Behind The Scenes @ Our Lookbook Shoot

 

We loved shooting our lookbook. Female empowerment was in full swing with styling, hair and makeup, and photography all provided by a mega female team. It was so much fun to work with such an awesome team! My adorable dog even had his first go at fashion modelling.

I had to see what all the fuss about Nicole Richie's Met Ball look was all about, so here it is. One of my favorite fashionistas, Nicole always manages to exude hollywood glamour whether it's in a fancy gown or basic maxi dress. The hair is a little out there, yes, but... the gown is stunning, and make-up and accessories are on point. The bold earring is the perfect accent to her wild up-do.

A Rose Bowl Experience

Shopping around in Los Angeles to find new products for my online vintage store typically includes a monthly visit to the Pasadena Rose Bowl flea market. I've made it a point to habitually attend and yet I still find myself somewhat overwhelmed when I arrive to a welcoming of thousands of vendors (literally over 2500 booths, I asked). Needless to say, making this an all day event is the only way to cover enough ground to leave satisfied and feel like I found the best of the best products to add to Rack and Sack. With an array of costume and fine vintage jewelry to select from, I always manage to find products I feel good about and get excited to share with my customers. 

Although it's always fun, running around searching through thousands of booths is never an easy task. I can see why some people get turned off by the idea of flea markets and steer clear of the overwhelming feeling that's almost inevitable. Your thoughts: Where do I start? How do I buy? How can I tell if this is vintage? What vendors carry the best products? Is this priced right? -- And that's sort of how the idea of Rack and Sack was born. An experienced hunter with a great eye (me) does the searching for you. Now get to it and start SHOPPING!

Downtown LA Artwalk

Taking Rack and Sack to the downtown LA artwalk was something I've been contemplating this month and decided to book last minute. I ran around two days before buying fixtures, tables, and everything else that comes along with a live showcase. Definitely a change from the usual online process. It was a fun experience and I lucked out with some really cool neighbors. The scarves you see hanging behind R&S's display belongs to my super sweet neighbor for the night who purchased a vintage bracelet from me and kept me warm with a lovely shawl he ended up giving me at the end of the night.
